discovering Elise’s feminine, french girl style

Personal Styling

Elise was looking for support in feminizing her wardrobe, starting with some casual and work appropriate outfits that felt comfortable and affirming. She posted,

“Looking for fashion assistance! Anonymous for reasons that will become obvious in the next sentence. I'm a newly, slowly coming out trans woman, and I'm struggling to find feminine outfits. Both because shopping in-person as a trans woman is scary and also because holy crap fashion is hard. Is there anyone in this group who has experience providing fashion guidance and assistance shopping? I want to go shopping myself, but having in-person feedback and suggestions would be huge.”

en collaboration avec helped Elise discover her signature style by:

  • Creating a style mood board based on her thoughts at the initial comprehensive intake meeting, Pinterest board and style inspirations.

  • Minimizing sizing frustrations by tailoring size suggestions to the measurements of each brand, and providing suggestions for hallmarks of quality fabrics and flattering designs.

  • Acting as a sounding board and fielding her feedback about how different pieces looked and made her feel, helping her to attune with and honor her inner wisdom.

At the end of the project:

Elise felt more comfortable shopping at the mall with friends and choosing clothing, shoes and accessories that affirmed her gender expression. She also had a look book to reference for curated outfits and brand recommendations.
